Father's Day

One word that sums up who my daddy was; is “Unselfish”. He was so in love with our Jesus and in the way I could only wish to be like one day. When I think of how our heavenly father is, I see my dad.

The unconditional love, the mercy, the kindness, gentleness and forgiveness that God bestows upon me is how my daddy was to me. We are called to be Christ like, and I can say my daddy was the most Christ like person I ever knew.

Of course he had his mistakes, but the beauty of that was that he owned up to them ad openly confessed and asked for forgiveness. My daddy didn’t hold back when it came to being the best example of Christ. He loved my momma more than anything besides his Lord.

He cared for her and us kids as best as he knew how. He gave up everything for his family. My daddy worked so hard to raise us kids for the Lord and let me tell you I love Jesus! Father’s Day. I can’t imagine celebrating Father’s day without my daddy.

I thank God daily for the 36 years that I was able to look up to my daddy. For the times when I was a little girl and cuddled with him on the couch even when he was dirty from working the peanut and cotton fields. For the times he disciplined e for disobeying. For the times he prayed for me, especially when he didn’t know how but did anyway. I thank God my daddy was able to give me away on my wedding day to my best friend and love of my life.

I thank god for how my boys got to know and love their grandpa so much! I thank God that I got to watch my mom take care of my daddy until it was his time to be with our maker. I thank God that my daddy was there for my first breath and that I was there for his last breath. That I alongside my family could escort him into the hands of Jesus! Father’s day…yes I am celebrating that I had the BEST daddy that God could’ve ever given me. I am going to celebrate how my daddy was the best example of how being Christ like is to be. It’s so very hard not to have my daddy here anymore but I could never wish him back from the peace he’s experiencing now. He left such a legacy for me and my family and that keeps me going.

 “I Love you Daddy!”

“Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!”
