Adoption Story

Image
“I still remember the days I spent praying, for what I have now” It was 20 years ago almost exactly...that I said my vows and thought life would be like most fairy tales. I would be waiting at home with an apron on for my husband to come home from work with his dinner on the table. The home would be spotless and tidy and there would be children running about in the most mannerly way. A perfect husband, a perfect home, a perfect life with all the perfect children we desired. Have you ever tried a Pinterest project with high hopes of it turning out just as you thought it would? And than it was the most tragic epic fail of your life? Well, that's how my marriage was...I was....and my non existent Children where. Once we were married, we tried to have kids right away. We waited and waited. AND waited. Nothing. There wasn’t much more I desired than to be a mama. And it was just not happening. My marriage started to hurt, I started to hurt and my relationships started to...

Perspective

Image
Over the past years as a growing christian, and learning to do life as a mother and wife one of the most important things I learned is to keep focused on having the right perspective Daily we are faced with situations, or circumstances that are hard. That make us feel worn out, defeated and broken. The only thing you have control over is our perspective. You don’t have control over your situation....but you have a choice about how you view it. We know from God’s word that he has given us everything we need to live a thriving life not just a surviving life. 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18 "So we do not loose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." Proverbs ...

JOY!

Image
Is joy the same as happiness or contentment? What is Joy and do you have joy? Where does it  come from? Can we have joy in difficult times? I love people. There. The secrets out. I just love people. I really enjoy having one on one time with people. I love to see where they are at in their walk  with God. If I can sit down with someone and find out where they are in their faith, I walk away  blessed, and encouraged. But what’s the real reason behind this joy that I find? I’ll answer that yet. :) I’m a pretty happy girl if I can take a drive to good ole Tim Hortons, or if I can have a relatively  clean house, or if my children are having a good day, but that happiness is not lasting once the  children start crying all on the same day or even the same hour. Once the house needs to be cleaned  again (or you find out that there’s another whole area of the house that you didn’t get to), that  happiness is soon turned to unhappiness. Don’t even g...

Journey with a Special Needs Child

Image
Growing up I always looked forward to the next season… I couldn’t wait to finish grade 6.. couldn’t wait to get to high school… couldn’t wait to get my drivers licence… couldn't wait to have a boyfriend… couldn’t wait to get married… couldn’t wait to have children…. When thinking about having children never once did I ever think what if this or what if that. I just thought I would have children that would have the same excitement and reach each season as I did. I was well on my way having gotten married and now the children were coming First we had Javiera who was a go getter and kept me on my toes. 2 1/2 years later we had Chloe who was this easy going chatter box. Along comes my 3rd pregnancy, more ultra sounds with concerns of the placenta. Due to these concerns they induced me 2 weeks early. August 19th 2008 we were grateful to God for the safe arrival of our little 6lb 4oz and 17 1/4 inch baby girl Neveah Joy Harder. Besides the nurses needing to assis...

SUNDAY MORNING SANITY

Image
Beep, beep, beep, as I open my eyes I realize it’s Sunday morning. Panic mode sets in. “Oh no, Sunday morning!” I scramble out of bed to get dressed and wake my children. Oh my, what to wear today? I hear my children already awake in their rooms. That’s great, one less thing for me to do. Maybe they’re already getting dressed. When I enter my daughter’s room I see that it’s not so great after all. My 4 year old is dressed alright, but you should see what she’s wearing! I hope she learns a thing or two about fashion and color coordination before she grows up. The war begins. How can I get her to change without a fight? Now to check on the boys. No, this won’t work either. My six year old loves to layer his shirts but how many times do I have to remind him that stripes and plaid don’t mix. Please wear the blue shirt in your closet or at least just one of the two you have on. By now I’m feeling quite frazzled. Why can’t they just put Sunday clothes on for Sunday? Why do I have ...
