Get Real!

Image
Over the past year or so, God has been showing me  about the power of words and the importance of being real to yourself and others. Being able to accept hard times in life and being willing to be honest about them and using them to help your brothers and sisters in Christ, even if it makes you look a little less like you got it all together. None of us really does. We need each other. It started when our second baby was born.   I had a hard several months with him being gassy and being difficult to put to sleep.   I caught myself constantly being concerned that I might come off as not knowing what I was doing and always having to justify or make a defence for a struggle when asked.   I would say things like, “ya he’s gassy today,” but would be sure to add, “but he is not always like this, he is usually pretty good.”   I remember hearing myself one day and realized God was telling me it was ok to not be ok all the time.   Someone trie...

JOY!

Image
Is joy the same as happiness or contentment? What is Joy and do you have joy? Where does it  come from? Can we have joy in difficult times? I love people. There. The secrets out. I just love people. I really enjoy having one on one time with people. I love to see where they are at in their walk  with God. If I can sit down with someone and find out where they are in their faith, I walk away  blessed, and encouraged. But what’s the real reason behind this joy that I find? I’ll answer that yet. :) I’m a pretty happy girl if I can take a drive to good ole Tim Hortons, or if I can have a relatively  clean house, or if my children are having a good day, but that happiness is not lasting once the  children start crying all on the same day or even the same hour. Once the house needs to be cleaned  again (or you find out that there’s another whole area of the house that you didn’t get to), that  happiness is soon turned to unhappiness. Don’t even g...

New Year! Right Perspective.

Image
A new year has begun. Who knows if this may be our last one?   "But of that day and hour no one knows , Not even the Angels in heaven, Nor the Son, but only the Father." Mark 13:32-33 "Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is." This has become very real to us this past year, yes we have accepted Christ into to our lives but are we really watching like it says in Mark13:33?   We don't know when it will be our turn to meet the Lord, it will most likely come faster then we expect.   I don't know about you but I'm excited to meet the Lord I can't wait to spend eternity with Him and be all done with the trials and tears. "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes,  there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4 We love that verse! It's such an encouragement to me and my...

Out with the Old, In with the New

Image
Did that just happen? Really 2015 is over? These years really do go by too fast! A new year is upon us once more. It is a good time to reflect on what we learned in the past year and to think about God’s purpose for our lives. One thing I can tell you is that even though I started writing some of what I will share months ago, I wait with actually getting it all down until that clock is about to strike midnight and that calendar is about to open to a new page; a new year!  The excitement builds up you know, and the closer to the new year we get, the better this post should be, right? (Besides, I was only asked to write this three month ago.)  Ok… I admit it…It actually has more to do with this bad last minute habit thing I have going on. If I were to make resolutions this year, that should probably be one thing I should change. Our homemade gift exchange at church was a fine example of why I need to work on that one. However, I really do find a new year exciting. M...
