What are you AFRAID of?

Image
I have a confession to make. I fear many things. I have a feeling you’ll be able to relate. Maybe not to everything I fear. But you likely have some fears too. I looked up the top ten things Christian women struggle with. The 3 from the top was fear. I wasn’t surprised.   I’ve always been a cautious person. And it has definitely never been said of me that I live on the edge or that I’m a risk taker. Never! I see impending danger behind every bush. (not a literal bush 😆 ) People that know me well know I gasp easily when I think the driver in the vehicle I’m in does not see the car in front is putting on the brakes. My sister Tina once said I would swerve and hit a tree if I saw a caterpillar crossing the road. (quite an exaggeration 😏 ) When the kids were little I would freak out if they walked too close to the stairs or a ledge. I could see them go down head first. And it did actually happen a time or two. I could not watch them climb a tree. I was terrif...

When Anxiety Comes Knocking.

When anxiety and despair come knocking what do you do? (Source) I have never really struggled with anxiety to the extent I'm sure some of you have, but within the last year the Lord has been revealing to me how much I depend on controlling certain areas of my life for my sense of security. With my parents moving to Mexico for missions, raising young children; which is the most faith testing experience I have ever gone/am going through, becoming pregnant after struggling with infertility, this year has been a bit of a hard one. Not that these things are bad, but they were unplanned, unexpected and disrupted what I thought I had going for me, or how I had things planned out in my head. The Lord has been so kind and gentle in reminding me of his promises and his care for me in every situation. I am learning that resting in Jesus no matter how difficult the battle may be whether it is an internal or external one is really the safest place to be. This is a process though...

“To Be Prepared”

Image
Writing lists, setting calendar reminders in my phone, planning things ahead of time...these are just a few things I do to help me prepare and organize my day-to-day tasks. I don’t prefer last-minute planning; it makes me feel stressed. I like to have goals to accomplish and to check them off when I’ve reached them. I like to organize my time and schedule accordingly. I’m a list-maker like I’ve already stated. I like structure and smooth sailing. Don’t throw spontaneity at me. I don’t like having the boat rocked. Don’t you think God knows all this about me? He wouldn’t throw me for a loop hole knowing I would feel stressed and overwhelmed, right? WRONG. November 9, 2016 is a day that all my organizing/preparing was ‘thrown out the window’. Our precious son was born at 2:27pm on November 9 - a whole 5 weeks EARLY according to ultrasound dates, etc. My iPhone calendar was filled with things to do each week BEFORE baby Carter was to arrive. I wanted to get...

Not In My Wildest Dreams

Image
This is a synopsis of our first two years, out of twenty-two of missionary service in Bolivia.                                                   When God delivered me from the power of darkness to a new life in Christ , it was nothing short of a miracle ,  it was nothing what I  had done , it was only God   (Eph. 2:1-10).  He transformed my  life from  selfish   distasteful  ambitions and gave me  the  desire  to have fellowship with Him and glorify His Name.   When we found this new life in God’s word, I thought we were probably the only ones that had really found it, but soon after that we found dear friends  that helped us grow, and grow ing  we did, even our family  and friends  noticed  it .  Soon after  we found salvation in Jesus Christ , we started h...
