Home/Time Management

Image
Our job as a homemaker is precious work. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise and never allow the enemy to come in and flood your thoughts out of your home and wash away your commitment to improve and be strengthened in your role as wife, mother, and homemaker.                 There are many things to consider when thinking about managing your home, and doing it in a way that will help maximize your time. There are constantly people and things that are coming in and out, not to mention all the things that are accomplished inside the house every day. Its no wonder things can so easily get hectic and messy, so we need to be intentional about our homes, have a plan and a healthy vision for your home. I would like to give you some advice, first of all on different rooms in your home, and secondly some recipes and products to use in and around the home. The Bedroom- This is the first and last room that you see every day. Find a way to o...

Healthy Meals and Snacks!

Image
Thank you so much for allowing me this opportunity to do a guest post for you all! I feel very privileged and honoured to have been asked!  So, my topic is healthy meals and snacks. While I am definitely not a health expert, I am very interested and passionate about health and wellness! I love reading about it, talking about it, hearing about it, researching it…..you get the idea! I think many of us have something like a love/hate relationship with health. We love the idea. We love the changes it brings to our lives and our waistlines, but we sometimes hate it because it’s hard, and can be overwhelming and not always fun. It takes effort, diligence, consistency, self-control……And many take on the attitude that ignorance is bliss.” What I don’t know won’t hurt me. I’d rather not research healthier ways of eating because I might learn of some changes I need to make and then, if I don’t make those changes, my conscience won’t let me rest, but the truth of the matter is, I DON’T...

Spring has sprung!

Image
Hey ladies! The Robin has arrived! It is spring!  The robin has always been a sign of hope for me, for new life. And that's when it's time to get out the garden tools. Are you planning a garden this spring? What do you plant in your garden? A good time to start your garden is the middle of May, if the threat of frost has passed. To prepare the ground, if you have sandy soil you will need to get some peat moss  or topsoil so that your garden will not dry out so fast. If you have very hard ground for your garden you might want to consider a raised garden and bring in a load of topsoil. For years I have planted a big garden. It was hard work but it has always energized me. It is such a joy to see the new growth and the fruit of your labor that you've put into it. Last year I did not have a garden and so I had to go pick blueberries for energy! This year I'm planning to kill my grass and plant a garden in my backyard. Planting a garden is even one way o...

Energizing Tips

Image
"Look after the roots of the tree,  and the fragrant flower and luscious fruits will grow by themselves.  Look after the health of the body,  and the fragrance of the mind and richness of the spirit will follow."   -B.K.S. Iyengar We could rephrase the above quote in this way:  "Be rooted and built up in Jesus and established in the faith,  and we will bloom with joy and produce spiritual fruits. Take care of our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit  and we will be more in tune with Him who created us." We want to look at some ways on how to get a boost of energy when we need some. God has created us so complexly that there are many different ways to do this and it often depends on what caused our weariness in the first place. Remember this: God is Light. Light is energy. Without light there is no life, no colour, no energy. Let’s start off with the simplest tips of all and hopefully you’ll be invigorated. S...

Date Nights

In Pursuit Remember WAY back when you really had a crush on this cute guy? You would have butterflies every time he walked into the room, and you wished he would look your way. You started to wonder what you could do to impress him so he would notice you. Well that was a LONG time ago. Photo Credit: Esther Wiebe Since then, there has been many wonderful dates of getting to know each other. He pursued you, and in return you tried to become everything you could for him. There was romance, surprises, laughter, chocolates, cards, flowers, and special trips to town in hopes of catching a glimpse of this dashing young man. And then finally there was all the arrangements followed by that nervous and exciting “I do”. Shortly after that came the pregnancy tests, the nausea, the baby........and then another one and an another one. Life as a mother has started and you feel consumed by these precious little ones. They take up so much of your time, during the day and night. After ...

Warm Inspirations

Image
So here we are, it's January, the cold winds are blowing,  we've got the medicine cabinet stocked, and Kleenex for those sniffly noses.  And in some cases struggling to fight off the winter blues. With the busyness of December behind us it's probably time for some major motivation and inspiration.  After all that turkey and stuffing, it would probably do us all some good to make January the month for soup. There are few other things that bring comfort like a hot bowl of soup can. Nothing quite warms a person from the inside out like a nice hot bowl of soup. Maybe a cup of tea but that's  not nearly as fun to eat as a bowl of soup ;)  Noodle soup, restaurant soup, sommerborcht, green bean soup, butta soup, bunte butta soup, hot white bean soup, sauerkraut borcht, tomato basil soup, beef barley soup, baked potato soup, corn chowder soup, shrimp soup, pisole soup, garden vegetable soup, pasta fagioli soup, minestrone soup, nacho soup, cream of broccoli ...

Celebrating Christmas with Joy

Image
I don't know about the rest of you but I love Christmas! Its seems that every year, about the same time as the furnace kicks on , is when I start feeling excited. Christmas is coming! I know that many of you get overwhelmed with the holidays because there is often much to prepare. I'd like to try to offer a few tips and suggestions that might help to make things less stressful and therefore make the holidays more enjoyable. For the meal... Who says you always have to have a Turkey Dinner for the holidays? It is delicious but there's so many other things that are just as good. Try to think of a meal where you can do some of the prep work a day or two ahead of time. Or have a pot-luck. Maybe have it for supper and then have some of the guests help with the preparations or even bring it already prepared. I think everyone has one or two meals that seem to always turn out well. Why not make that? Even if its beans and rice! Snacks are always a favourite. Choco...
