Isn’t it wonderful that we can celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ this Christmas season?! ( Original Post )    One homeschool morning a few years ago now, I had just settled down at the table with the days lessons with our son who found it very challenging to sit and put his brain to work on something that was not his idea of being worth thinking about.   We heard a car stop close by and out stepped a couple of nicely dressed people and of course, one had to be walking towards our door. I groaned inwardly and I then told one of our daughters to tell this lady that their mother was not available. It must have been the Holy Spirit opening my eyes to this opportunity and I quickly changed my mind. “Wait, let me get the door”, I said. I put a smile on my face, opened the door, and this is how I greeted this woman who was here to share from her Jehovah’s Witness training: “Isn’t it great to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savi...

The Gratefulness Experiment

Image
I was asked in August if I would be willing to write a blog post for October. I immediately had the topic of Gratitude come to mind and started research. Then some shifting around happened and my little sister (whom I love very much) ended up doing October and I was given November. At first I thought I might need to find a new topic as the subject of Thankfulness is more suited for October but after discovering some of the things that I had, I thought it would still be appropriate.     Here it is.    Back in August I decided to find out how much showing gratitude was a part of my life. I began keeping a record each day of at least one thing that I went out of my way to thank someone else for. It wasn’t just supposed to be a verbal “Thank you” to the person who holds open a door or my husband for handing the butter to me at dinner, although those are very important. I wanted others to genuinely feel that I was thankful to them for specific...

Decorating for Fall!

Image
Yay! Fall is here! My absolute favourite season! I have been looking forward to this season for many reasons; sweaters, blankets, fresh apple cider, cooler days, cool nights so one can snuggle under blankets. Another reason is so I can decorate for Fall! This year I made a welcome sign that I can use in any season and added some burlap and mums, hopefully some corn stalks and a pumpkin will be joining my arrangement as well. I haven't got to make my centre piece for my table but here is what I have in mind! Click for Tutorial Click for Tutorial These are just the few simple ideas that are easy but look so pretty! If you do a search on Pinterest or even good ol' Google you are bound to find a ton of different ideas to suit your style! A small touch of seasonal decorations makes a home look so inviting and homey! So try your hand at making a few no matter how "crafty" you may or may not be. Another thing about fall that I love is the Apples. There...

Life lessons from my experience living in three completely different parts of the world!

My name is Primrose Ndagire Kisuule. I’m a married mom of 4 kids. I was born and grew up in Uganda so a lot of what I am today reflects my upbringing. I got born again at age 14 at the Boarding school I attended back in Uganda. I met my husband Richard at University in Uganda and shortly after we started dating, he moved to the UK. I joined him 2 years later to do my Master’s degree. Another 2 years later, we got married. In total, Richard and I lived in England, United Kingdom for 11 and 9 years respectively. We also had our 2 boys, Nathaniel and Matthew there. 3yrs ago, we moved to Canada and settled among the Mennonites, a group of people we had never known even existed. How we ended up here is another story. I am not the blogging type but my prayer is that this small part of my story will bless someone. So here are some life lessons from my personal experiences. Life lesson 1: Double standards are as bad if not worse than shielding our kids from the secular world We are ...

“This world is not our home, we are just passing through”

Hi there!  First of all thank you all and thank God for this opportunity to share with you. I’d like to introduce myself a bit, my name is Tina Bergen I’m married to Jake Bergen, the most amazing husband and father of my 4 precious children. I’m so very blessed to have my children in my life, I’ve prayed very earnestly for them, there was a time in our first years of marriage were we came to think that maybe there wouldn’t be any possibility for me to be a mother ever and that was a very dark and hard time for me but I knew if I would pray for children God wouldn’t let me down ,  Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you… " I am a strong believer in prayer because my own children are an answer to my prayers! My oldest child is a boy he’s 11 years now, the second, the one and only daughter I have is 9 years, and then my last one I've always felt like the answer was even stronger because they are twins who are 5 years old already and we are so so very grat...

Journey with a Special Needs Child

Image
Growing up I always looked forward to the next season… I couldn’t wait to finish grade 6.. couldn’t wait to get to high school… couldn’t wait to get my drivers licence… couldn't wait to have a boyfriend… couldn’t wait to get married… couldn’t wait to have children…. When thinking about having children never once did I ever think what if this or what if that. I just thought I would have children that would have the same excitement and reach each season as I did. I was well on my way having gotten married and now the children were coming First we had Javiera who was a go getter and kept me on my toes. 2 1/2 years later we had Chloe who was this easy going chatter box. Along comes my 3rd pregnancy, more ultra sounds with concerns of the placenta. Due to these concerns they induced me 2 weeks early. August 19th 2008 we were grateful to God for the safe arrival of our little 6lb 4oz and 17 1/4 inch baby girl Neveah Joy Harder. Besides the nurses needing to assis...
