Happy Mothers Day!

Image
May..... What a beautiful word! What a beautiful month! Spring is in full swing...well almost. And in May we celebrate Mother's Day.    We all have something very wonderful in common and that is that we all have a mother! Not one of us would be here if we had not been "woven in our mother's womb." Psalm 139:13.... therefore  "I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made". Psalm 139:14. Without our mothers we would not be here.  Some of us have been called to motherhood and some will be moms in the future. And what a privilege it is and what a wonderful calling to have. We praise God for the privilege of being created and been given life and that is very good and necessary but have we thanked our moms for taking care of our needs when we were helpless babies and for raising us. It's quite possibly the most difficult job in the world. We depended on them for everything. I'm sure we probably have thanked our moms for a...

Not In My Wildest Dreams

Image
This is a synopsis of our first two years, out of twenty-two of missionary service in Bolivia.                                                   When God delivered me from the power of darkness to a new life in Christ , it was nothing short of a miracle ,  it was nothing what I  had done , it was only God   (Eph. 2:1-10).  He transformed my  life from  selfish   distasteful  ambitions and gave me  the  desire  to have fellowship with Him and glorify His Name.   When we found this new life in God’s word, I thought we were probably the only ones that had really found it, but soon after that we found dear friends  that helped us grow, and grow ing  we did, even our family  and friends  noticed  it .  Soon after  we found salvation in Jesus Christ , we started h...

SUNDAY MORNING SANITY

Image
Beep, beep, beep, as I open my eyes I realize it’s Sunday morning. Panic mode sets in. “Oh no, Sunday morning!” I scramble out of bed to get dressed and wake my children. Oh my, what to wear today? I hear my children already awake in their rooms. That’s great, one less thing for me to do. Maybe they’re already getting dressed. When I enter my daughter’s room I see that it’s not so great after all. My 4 year old is dressed alright, but you should see what she’s wearing! I hope she learns a thing or two about fashion and color coordination before she grows up. The war begins. How can I get her to change without a fight? Now to check on the boys. No, this won’t work either. My six year old loves to layer his shirts but how many times do I have to remind him that stripes and plaid don’t mix. Please wear the blue shirt in your closet or at least just one of the two you have on. By now I’m feeling quite frazzled. Why can’t they just put Sunday clothes on for Sunday? Why do I have ...

Happy Valentines Day!

The month of love! The month of romance! To me, romance isn't the same now as it used to be. Being married for 13 years and been blessed with 6 kids (+ 1 in heaven waiting for us), that word has changed meaning. It has matured, if you will. Don't get me wrong, I love flowers, chocolate and candles. HOWEVER, I prefer a nice quiet F riday  night with my husband, sipping our favourite beverage, having a snack, watching a video just the same:) The question addressed to me was "How do you keep your marriage life healthy in your busy season of life?" (Please note that I'm not a pro writer, so please ignore all the mistakes) COMMUNICATION is a VITAL part of a healthy marriage. Find a time alone where the two of you can just talk. As you talk, be nice. Don`t use this time to attack your husband because he forgot to take out the garbage but use it to re-connect. (Don't forget to let your husband talk) My husband and I have set aside F riday  evening, after the...

Hopeful Foresight

Image
Another year has once again passed us by and a new year begins. I want to encourage you to start the year  with HOPE.  The word hope appears many times in the Bible, and reading about it gives me just that.   Here is one encouraging example: Romans 5:1-5.  " Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. " The dictionary definition of hope is "a feeling of expectation and a desire for a certain thing to happen." What are we hoping for in 2015?  With a new year ahead usually comes high hopes for many things. Often ...

Divine Hindsight

25 days till Christmas.... 25 days till Christmas! Are you excited or does the thought put dread into your heart?  What a beautiful time of year and what a glorious reason to celebrate, the birth of our Messiah, our King, our Saviour.  On New Year's Day many people set new goals, evaluate priorities, make New Year's resolutions. I want to submit to you the importance of looking back and evaluate 2014 before we head into 2015. I think we can make wiser and better choices for tomorrow if we look back and remember and evaluate yesterday. With Christmas just around the corner and New Year's 2015 just beyond that, let's take a  moment and reflect on the past 11 months. Who or what inspired you, who or what motivated you? Did you have a purpose, a mission, a goal? We can't just let life happen and expect to reach our goals. You have to be intentional. How was God most glorified in this past year? What are you most grateful for thi...
