“This world is not our home, we are just passing through”

Hi there!  First of all thank you all and thank God for this opportunity to share with you. I’d like to introduce myself a bit, my name is Tina Bergen I’m married to Jake Bergen, the most amazing husband and father of my 4 precious children. I’m so very blessed to have my children in my life, I’ve prayed very earnestly for them, there was a time in our first years of marriage were we came to think that maybe there wouldn’t be any possibility for me to be a mother ever and that was a very dark and hard time for me but I knew if I would pray for children God wouldn’t let me down ,  Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you… " I am a strong believer in prayer because my own children are an answer to my prayers! My oldest child is a boy he’s 11 years now, the second, the one and only daughter I have is 9 years, and then my last one I've always felt like the answer was even stronger because they are twins who are 5 years old already and we are so so very grat...

Journey with a Special Needs Child

Image
Growing up I always looked forward to the next season… I couldn’t wait to finish grade 6.. couldn’t wait to get to high school… couldn’t wait to get my drivers licence… couldn't wait to have a boyfriend… couldn’t wait to get married… couldn’t wait to have children…. When thinking about having children never once did I ever think what if this or what if that. I just thought I would have children that would have the same excitement and reach each season as I did. I was well on my way having gotten married and now the children were coming First we had Javiera who was a go getter and kept me on my toes. 2 1/2 years later we had Chloe who was this easy going chatter box. Along comes my 3rd pregnancy, more ultra sounds with concerns of the placenta. Due to these concerns they induced me 2 weeks early. August 19th 2008 we were grateful to God for the safe arrival of our little 6lb 4oz and 17 1/4 inch baby girl Neveah Joy Harder. Besides the nurses needing to assis...

God's Soldier Advance on Their Knees

Image
A friend of mine recently told me an incredible story of an incident that happened with her mom.  The story so impressed me that I requested permission to share it with you. But before I do, let me tell you a little about myself.  I’m the happy wife of an amazing man and the joyful (more sometimes than others) mother of four very busy boys. Before I got married, teaching was my mission; but prayer was my calling.   In my journey with God, He has shown me continually that His real work is done on my knees- that apparently is how His soldiers advance in battle- but over and over again I find myself distracted from it.  Maybe you can relate. photo taken is Oasis MX My friend’s story was just one part in a series of things that God has used to bring me back to His work done His way- that is prayer. Now for the story, Sara’s mom is a praying mom. She has told me on several occasions about the strength she finds on her knees.  One night she ...

Happy Mothers Day!

Image
May..... What a beautiful word! What a beautiful month! Spring is in full swing...well almost. And in May we celebrate Mother's Day.    We all have something very wonderful in common and that is that we all have a mother! Not one of us would be here if we had not been "woven in our mother's womb." Psalm 139:13.... therefore  "I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made". Psalm 139:14. Without our mothers we would not be here.  Some of us have been called to motherhood and some will be moms in the future. And what a privilege it is and what a wonderful calling to have. We praise God for the privilege of being created and been given life and that is very good and necessary but have we thanked our moms for taking care of our needs when we were helpless babies and for raising us. It's quite possibly the most difficult job in the world. We depended on them for everything. I'm sure we probably have thanked our moms for a...

Not In My Wildest Dreams

Image
This is a synopsis of our first two years, out of twenty-two of missionary service in Bolivia.                                                   When God delivered me from the power of darkness to a new life in Christ , it was nothing short of a miracle ,  it was nothing what I  had done , it was only God   (Eph. 2:1-10).  He transformed my  life from  selfish   distasteful  ambitions and gave me  the  desire  to have fellowship with Him and glorify His Name.   When we found this new life in God’s word, I thought we were probably the only ones that had really found it, but soon after that we found dear friends  that helped us grow, and grow ing  we did, even our family  and friends  noticed  it .  Soon after  we found salvation in Jesus Christ , we started h...

SUNDAY MORNING SANITY

Image
Beep, beep, beep, as I open my eyes I realize it’s Sunday morning. Panic mode sets in. “Oh no, Sunday morning!” I scramble out of bed to get dressed and wake my children. Oh my, what to wear today? I hear my children already awake in their rooms. That’s great, one less thing for me to do. Maybe they’re already getting dressed. When I enter my daughter’s room I see that it’s not so great after all. My 4 year old is dressed alright, but you should see what she’s wearing! I hope she learns a thing or two about fashion and color coordination before she grows up. The war begins. How can I get her to change without a fight? Now to check on the boys. No, this won’t work either. My six year old loves to layer his shirts but how many times do I have to remind him that stripes and plaid don’t mix. Please wear the blue shirt in your closet or at least just one of the two you have on. By now I’m feeling quite frazzled. Why can’t they just put Sunday clothes on for Sunday? Why do I have ...
